Default Lew Tendler

Next on the list... Lew Tender:

Lew Tendler is one of the VERY greatest fighters to never win a title. Narrow the playing field to southpaws that never won a title, and it's hard to name a single fighter better than Lew. Narrow the playing field again to Jewish southpaws to never win a title...and Lew is unquestionably the greatest of all time. Lew fought from the end of 1913 to the middle of 1928, aging from 15 to 29. Going by the record books, he initially had 95 no decisions. But today, websites like boxrec have recorded the verdicts of a majority of these bouts in terms of what newspapers had to say about them. Going by the newspaper decisions, Lew finished his career with 134 wins, 16 losses, 8 draws, 12 no decisions, and 1 no contest.

Despite never winning a title, Lew found meaningful success from Bantamweight to Welterweight, and even dipped himself into the Middleweight division before all was said and done. He beat future World Bantamweight Champion Pete Herman. He beat future World Featherweight Champion and hall of famer Johnny Dundee. He beat future Lightweight World Champion Rocky Kansas. He even beat top 3 Welterweight contender Jack Zivic. Not a bad career for a man that never won a World title...
